Peterborough Annual Dinner: Small Successes, Large Rewards
The theme of this year's Peterborough Chapter Annual Dinner draws on the little known successes in Afghanistan which Dr. Lauryn Oates spoke about at our National Symposium in September.
We are very excited that our speaker is Adeena Niazi, Founder and Executive Director of the Afghan Womens Organization in Canada. Under her leadership the organization has been active in supporting and advocating on behalf of women and children and many refugees and newcomers in Canada. In 2008, Ms. Niazi was honoured with the Order of Ontario Award and in 2002 she was one of two Afghan Canadians elected to Afghanistans's Loya Jirga to vote in the Transitional Government in Kabul.
Our dinner will feature delicious homemade Afghan cooking, a silent auction and the sale of purses embroidered by Afghan women.
Proceeds from the evening will go to CW4WAfghan to further the education of women and girls in Afghanistan
Tickets: $30 or $20 unwaged/students
Door Open at 5:15 pm
