Virtual Symposium 2020: Culture Session!

A Virtual Cooking Class: Afghan Street Food

Humaira Ghilzai is a writer, speaker, food blogger, and Afghanistan cultural advisor, who shares Afghan culture and cuisine through her blog Afghan Culture Unveiled and Youtube channel. She focuses on projects that bring positive social change and shares the wonders of Afghanistan through stories of rich culture, delicious food, and her family’s traditions. Join us for a special cooking workshop focussing on Afghan street food, led by Humaira. She will share a little bit about her background and why she writes about Afghan culture, talk about how hospitality plays a role in Afghan culture and the kinds of food one would make for weddings and celebrations, and transport for a sensory tour of 'Afghan Kebab Houses' and street food, culminating in a cooking session where she'll continue to educated about ingredients, spices, and seasonal eating in Afghan culture. There will be time for a Q&A, and all participants will receive the full recipes, as well as a copy of Humaira's beautiful full colour booklet, "Planning an Afghan Feast".
