May 11th: Calgary Chapter To Host Roya Shams and Lisa LaFlamme at Annual Breaking Bread Dinner

Calgary's 14th Annual BREAKING BREAD Dinner May 11th, 2017

A One-of-A-Kind Evening with Friends Working Together For Afghan Women and Girls

Featuring

KEYNOTE SPEAKER ROYA SHAMS

Her Moving Story Will Inspire You! As a young Afghan woman, Roya was forced to flee Afghanistan after being targeted by the Taliban. Even at the age of 11, Roya understood the value of education, in a country where girls and women experience violence and oppression for simply attending school. With the help of journalists from the Toronto Star, she was brought to Canada and given a bursary to complete her high school education at Ashbury College in Ottawa. Roya is about to complete her second year on a full scholarship at the University of Ottawa, studying international development and looking forward to the day that she can achieve her dream of becoming a political leader and helping to save her own country.
