Who We Are
Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan (CW4WAfghan.ca) is a member-based, not-for-profit organization founded in 1996 with thirteen volunteer chapters across Canada. CW4WAfghan is a non-religious, non-political, federally registered charity in Canada. The goals are to advance education and educational opportunities for Afghan women and their families; and to educate Canadians about human rights in Afghanistan. Donor-funded projects are implemented and managed in partnership with Afghan civil society organizations, and fall within our three field program areas: (1) Community Libraries & Book Development Program; (2) Investments in Public Education; and (3) Literacy & Life Skills. Projects within these programs include, for example, a number of community schools, village libraries, in-service teacher training, adult literacy, English language classes, and computer classes.

CW4WAfghan is volunteer-based and, with the exception of online credit card donations made through CanadaHelps.org, there are no overhead costs deducted from your donation. Our goal is to raise a minimum of $300,000 to $400,000 per annum to meet our project objectives.
Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan members were honoured with the YMCA Calgary Peace Award in the International category for their long-standing contribution to supporting peace and human rights for Afghan women and their families.
