Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan

  • CW4WAfghan goals are: to advance education for Afghan women and girls, and to engage Canadians as global citizens.

  • Now more than ever your support does matter.... her life and to yours.

  • Literacy students are encouraged to borrow the books and take them home where family members can also be exposed to reading. Literacy is integrated with other skills, including health, hygiene, nutrition and human rights.

  • The Fanoos/Lantern Fund Teacher Training for Afghanistan project has trained over 5,000 teachers since 2008 in Kabul, Panjshir, Laghman and Parwan provinces.

  • We equip approximately 50 community public schools each year with Library Starter Kits containing 500 books for new readers, and Science Lab Starter Kits with 130 resources, from microscopes and skeletons, to beakers and prisms.

  • An investment in women and girls is an investment in global prosperity, and in our common future.

  • CW4WAfghan has approximately 10 on-going projects each year, including two community schools for street children, school equipment and educational resources, training for over 1,000 teachers, village literacy classes and libraries in rural Afghanistan.
