Voices on the Rise:
Afghan Women Making the News
The exhibition is co-curated by Khorshied Samad, the wife of Afghanistan's former Ambassador to Canada and Jane McElhone, a journalist who lived and worked in Afghanistan. The photoexhbit features the work of Afghan, Canadian and International photojournalists, and portrays the varied and fascinating lives of Afghan women journalists, politicians and human rights activists. These are the women playing leading roles in the reconstruction of Afghanistan, but their efforts are often hidden from the glare of the media spotlight and little understood by the Canadian public.
Twenty photographs measuring 24 by 28 inches are available from the master exhibit of 42 photos for display each accompanied by text in English, French and Dari (Farsi).
